2016 Trending Paint Colors

Like fashion, color trends change. In 2016 we are fortunate to have Benjamin Moore declare their painting color of the year as “Simply White”. It is timeless, sophisticated, classic, and easily matched with ever changing color choices and styles. We get to have a neutral color as a base while we are encouraged to add pops of color through a painted accent wall or accent nooks. Add color with accessories and furniture, do geometrical patterns and textures, this color goes with every style. According to studies, our society has become so involved in our cyber lives that all the immediate stimulation we get through changing screens and lights, as well as constant things to look at in the palm of our hand, we have now developed a heightened need for sensory stimulations through sight, sound, smell & touch in our surroundings. When we are forced to or chose to “unplug”, we need more. Our surroundings need to match our lives and the stimulation we have become used to. The colors presented as trending colors for 2016 by all the major paint companies are varied in boldness and subtleness but are all subdued, or slightly washed out. Though some paint colors are very bold shades, none are “bright”, they have a muted or matte look to them. They are both invigorating and calming at the same time. There are paint color groupings for every personality, and full of wonderful ways to pull from different styles and mesh them together for those of us who have many moods and styles. 2016 is going to be a splendid sight; evoking senses we had lost for a while. Quite possibly reuniting us with our surrounding environment, if we let it.
